The Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots Department of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences participated in the event “In the Footsteps of Science: Burdur Agriculture and Food Festival” held at Burdur Space Roof from October 22–24, 2026, with its developed innovative agricultural technologies.
In the event organized by the Burdur Provincial Directorate of National Education within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Program, our department participated with a stand titled “Digital Mechanization Technologies Workshop Aimed at Increasing Sustainable Productivity in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.”
The event, conducted under the responsibility of the Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker ÜNAL, was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Department Dr. Instructor Member Tahsin UYGUN, Dr. Instructor Member Mesut ÇOŞLU, Dr. Instructor Member Hasan YILMAZ, and department students.
During the event, three innovative technologies developed by our department were presented to the visitors. The AI-supported contactless cattle identification system CIDet, the smart trap system PewDet for detecting and counting greenhouse pests, and the NDSPAD Multispectral Plant Analysis System that allows the evaluation of plant growth status through spectral imaging methods were introduced practically.
During the festival, Burdur Deputy Governor Bedir DEVECİ also visited our department's stand and received information about the developed technologies. In the presentations made, the working principles of the systems, their areas of use, and the contributions they can provide to efficiency and sustainability in agricultural production were conveyed.
Throughout the three days, the stand attracted significant interest from teachers, students, and citizens, especially practical presentations aimed at primary and secondary school students were conducted. Children and young people had the opportunity to closely examine the use of artificial intelligence, image processing, and sensor technologies in agriculture and animal husbandry.
Our department students, who took active roles in the event, had the opportunity to share their technical knowledge with visitors, improve their scientific communication skills, and gain practical experience by participating in the promotion of the developed systems.
Our Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots Department continues to bring research and development activities that contribute to the digital transformation of agricultural production together with society, increase scientific awareness, and introduce the agricultural technologies of the future to younger generations.
