Our university hosted the event “Green Transformation Panel and Youth Workshop on the Road to COP31,” attended by faculty members and students from the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department.

In the panel session of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker ÜNAL, who was a speaker, provided information about the definition of agriculture, its historical development, and the transformation process extending from traditional agriculture to modern agricultural technologies. He addressed the different stages of agricultural development and emphasized the importance of digitalization and precision agriculture technologies in agricultural production.

In the panel, Dr. Faculty Member Mesut ÇOŞLU, who delivered a speech titled Remote Sensing and Spatial Technologies in Precision Agriculture, discussed the applications of remote sensing, satellite systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and geographic information systems (GIS) in precision agriculture and sustainable agriculture. He evaluated the contributions of these technologies to monitoring plant development, determining spatial variability in agricultural fields, effective management of inputs such as water and fertilizers, and supporting agricultural decision-making processes through practical examples. He also emphasized that, in addition to the advantages provided by technology in agricultural production, the environmental impacts of the technologies used and their sustainability should also be taken into account.

In the event, which was also attended by our department's students, topics such as climate change, green transformation, and sustainable agriculture were discussed, highlighting the role of digital and spatial technologies in the future of agriculture.
