Teknofest

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department took its place at TEKNOFEST 2026 Southeastern, held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport between September 30 and October 4, 2026, with its innovative agricultural and livestock technologies.

At TEKNOFEST, one of Turkey's most important technology organizations, the projects developed within our department, NDSPAD, CIDet, PEWDet, and FEDAI, were presented to visitors. Studies that utilized artificial intelligence, image processing, embedded systems, precision agriculture, and agricultural robotic technologies attracted significant interest throughout the festival.

Technology-Focused Solutions for Agriculture and Livestock

The systems developed by our department to meet the needs in different production areas showcased efforts to transform academic knowledge into practical applications and tangible technological outputs.

NDSPAD was introduced as a portable precision agriculture system developed to numerically evaluate plant growth and physiological status by utilizing imaging and sensor technologies in plant production. The system offers an approach for conducting agricultural measurements more quickly, objectively, and based on data.

CIDet was developed for the portable and contactless identification of dairy cattle using artificial intelligence and computer vision methods. The system, which enables individual recognition of animals from their images, provides an innovative solution for the digitalization and automatic animal management applications in livestock enterprises.

PEWDet was showcased as an intelligent early warning system developed for monitoring, detecting, and numerically tracking pests under greenhouse conditions using image processing and artificial intelligence technologies. The system aims to provide decision support to producers by regularly monitoring pest density.

The FEDAI Autonomous Feed Pushing Robot, developed within our department, was among the highlighted works at the festival with its solution for automating routine feed pushing operations in livestock enterprises. With the autonomous movement capability of FEDAI, it aims to reduce labor requirements, make the feeding process more orderly, and increase the level of automation in livestock enterprises.

Intense Interest in Our Department's Works

Throughout the festival, the technologies developed by the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department were examined by numerous high-level officials, protocol members, academics, industry representatives, students, and visitors.

Officials visiting the stand were informed about the development processes, working principles, application areas, and contributions to agricultural production of the NDSPAD, CIDet, PEWDet, and FEDAI projects. In particular, artificial intelligence-supported agricultural applications, autonomous systems, and digital livestock solutions received significant interest from visitors.

During the visits, the contributions that our university's R&D activities in agricultural technologies and the innovative systems developed by the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department could make to the digital transformation of agriculture and livestock were evaluated.

Future Technologies in Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Are Being Developed

The Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department continues its interdisciplinary studies that bring together artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor technologies, embedded systems, robotics, and autonomous systems with agriculture and livestock.

The NDSPAD, CIDet, PEWDet, and FEDAI projects exhibited at TEKNOFEST 2026 Southeastern demonstrated that the scientific studies conducted in our department do not remain at an academic level but are directly transformed into prototypes and technological products that meet field needs.

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robotics Department continues to contribute to the creation of future agricultural technologies by carrying out domestic technology development studies in the fields of smart agriculture, digital livestock, and agricultural robotics.
