Program Information: Geography is a science that analyzes the relationship between physical and human systems, the changes and developments that occur in both ecosystems and social living spaces as a result of these relationships, with the questions of “what, where, why, how,” and reveals the ecological and social outcomes of these changes and developments within a cause-effect relationship, both temporally and spatially. Due to the wide range of its study area, geography, which has close contact with many different disciplines, has the ability to create awareness about many of today's problems, produce academic knowledge about the sources of problems, and gain the ability to bring solutions. Today, global warming, pollution (water, air, and soil), vegetation change, ecological degradation, desertification, and similar physical problems encountered almost everywhere in the world; internal wars and similar political problems arising from ethnic, cultural, and religious reasons; transportation, daily activities, income distribution, crime rates, population, land use, and similar social and economic problems that occur with globalization and rapid urbanization can be shown as a few examples of many issues that geography science directly seeks solutions for. As a result of this diversity, many different study and application areas have emerged under the main headings of physical and human geography, such as plant geography, soil geography, tourism geography, urban geography, historical geography, social and cultural geography, political geography, transportation geography, industrial geography, and health geography.
Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which can be framed by the user's imagination and ability, in addition to the study areas of all sciences related to nature, human, and space, have become an indispensable part of geographical research and spatial analyses conducted today. There are theories and applications in many fields, from energy to agriculture, urban planning to commerce, tourism to health, the insurance sector to forestry, and many more that can be counted. Students who successfully complete the program are entitled to receive a "bachelor's degree" in the field of Geography and can work as Geographers, Geography Teachers, GIS Specialists in public and private institutions.

There is an opportunity for free lunch assistance for students who do not have sufficient financial means. The number of students who can benefit from this opportunity is determined by the University Administrative Board upon the proposal of the SKS Department. Our students can also benefit from the opportunity to work part-time in various units within the university outside of their education and training hours if they wish.
Dormitory and Accommodation Facilities: In our university's İstiklal campuses, there are dormitories with a total capacity of 5,064 beds, including 2,288 for males and 2,776 for females, affiliated with the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Additionally, there are dormitories belonging to the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories in the city center. Moreover, private student apartments and hostels in the Burdur city center also provide accommodation services.
