Program Information: Biology is a multifaceted Basic Science field that investigates the structural, functional, morphological, ecological, and developmental characteristics of all living things, studies their origins, distribution, and classification based on their evolutionary development, and produces solutions by researching human-environment relationships in ecosystems that are currently deteriorated and polluted. Biology science is needed in many research areas, especially in health, veterinary, and food. Developments in biological sciences form the basis for advancements in many fields worldwide. Biological research and developments actually form the foundation of many areas from the health sector to the food sector, from the livestock sector to the pharmaceutical sector.
The aim of the Department of Biology is to train biologists who can follow current scientific developments, conduct innovative, original, and qualified studies in accordance with the basic principles and ethical values of natural sciences, have problem-solving skills, have developed awareness of protecting the environment and biological richness, have received qualified education, and are equipped with contemporary knowledge.

There is a possibility of free lunch assistance for students who do not have sufficient financial means. The number of students who can benefit from this opportunity is determined by the University Administrative Board upon the proposal of the SKS Department. Our students can also benefit from the opportunity to work part-time in various units within the university outside of their education and training hours.
Dormitory and Accommodation Facilities: In our university's İstiklal campuses, there are dormitories with a total capacity of 5,064 beds, including 2,288 for males and 2,776 for females, affiliated with the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Additionally, there are dormitories belonging to the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories in the city center. Besides, private student apartments and hostels in the Burdur city center also provide accommodation services.

While continuing their education in our University's Biology Department, our students can apply for projects within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A - University Students Research Projects Support Program and conduct active laboratory studies. Our students can benefit from Erasmus, Mevlana, and Farabi student exchange programs. Our graduates can continue their postgraduate (master's and doctorate) education within the Department of Biology at the Institute of Science. During their undergraduate and postgraduate activities, they can benefit from laboratory facilities belonging to different research areas. The Biology Department is among the priority departments within the scope of the YÖK 100/2000 Doctorate Project. Our students continuing their postgraduate education also benefit from this program.
