TRT Antalya Radio Life's Inside "Kentini Yazanlar" program's guest this week was Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Science and Letters Department of Biology Hydrobiology Department faculty member Prof. Dr. İskender GÜLLE. Prof. Dr. Gülle, in his speech themed "Winter Warm, Summer Dry, Water Far", mentioned that the drought in the Lakes Region has reached serious levels and in this sense, Burdur Lake has lost water and there have been decreases in the water level in Salda Lake as well. He stated that the number of lakes in the region has significantly decreased over a period of approximately 50-60 years and that the existing lakes are also facing the danger of drying up. He emphasized that the use of the existing lakes in the region for agricultural irrigation also negatively affects the biodiversity in these lakes. Prof. Dr. Gülle continued his speech by focusing on the history and importance of World Water Day.
