Yapılış Tarihi | 29 December 2025, Monday

Teknofest

Our university's Computer Engineering Department 4th-year student Muhammed Alp Er Tunga HİÇYILMAZ achieved second place in the Chinese composition competition themed “Harmony and Unity” organized by Istanbul Okan University Confucius Institute on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “One Belt One Road” and “Middle Corridor” projects.

In the competition held for university students whose native language is not Chinese, the concepts of “harmony, unity in diversity, and intercultural harmony” were centered. Students participating in the competition were asked to present original compositions written in Chinese characters and handwriting. Participants interpreted the fundamental concepts of the Chinese thought tradition in light of their own experiences and observations.

Prepared for the competition under the guidance of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures faculty member Dr. Aykut DAL, Muhammed Alp Er Tunga HİÇYILMAZ addressed the understanding of harmony and virtue in line with Confucius' words in his composition. HİÇYILMAZ highlighted the relationship between an individual's moral development and social peace, arguing that this approach remains valid in the contemporary world. He focused on the question of whether humanity can truly achieve a harmonious unity. He emphasized that reaching this goal is only possible if the individual continuously questions themselves, strives to overcome their weaknesses, and is open to understanding others. HİÇYILMAZ stated that as this effort gains continuity, the ideal of “unity in diversity” will become attainable, and he approached harmony and unity not as a result but as a continuous attitude and practice that should be adopted towards the world. His work was deemed worthy of the second prize by the jury consisting of Chinese and Turkish academicians as a result of the evaluation made in terms of language proficiency, content depth, and theme suitability.

At the end of the competition, success certificates and various awards were presented to the students who ranked by Istanbul Okan University Confucius Institute. This achievement is of great importance in terms of demonstrating the academic and cultural competence of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University students in different disciplines and on international platforms.

We congratulate our faculty member Dr. Aykut DAL and our student Muhammed Alp Er Tunga HİÇYILMAZ for their guidance and wish them continued success.
