GENERAL INFORMATION

Description and Introduction 

The Department of History was established in 2014 and started accepting its first students in both the first and second education in the 2015-2016 academic year. Approximately 120 students have started their education. It continues its educational and academic activities with 6 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 3 Doctoral Faculty Members, and 1 Research Assistant.

In the department, basic historical information is given, including political, social, cultural, economic, religious, and military topics. In addition, Ottoman, which is a source language in terms of our national history, is included in undergraduate and graduate programs. The aim of the Department of History is to equip future history experts with modern research techniques and ensure the application of these techniques, and to prepare a ground for studies prepared with contemporary methods. In addition, it aims to raise students who can think scientifically and multi-dimensionally, create encouraging elements for scientific research and quality education, and provide students with the basic concepts of the science of history and the ways to access information.

The basis of the teaching program consists of undergraduate courses related to Ancient History, General Turkish History, Medieval History, Modern History, Contemporary History, and the History of the Republic of Turkey. Undergraduate courses are conducted with an understanding that aims to provide our students with the basic principles and information of the science of history. In addition, in our Department, some courses are supported with auxiliary materials such as dia, archive document, map, in addition to theoretical narration, according to their characteristics. Ottoman written language is taught to groups of students at a level that they can understand both printed and archive documents.

Mission

To provide quality education at a level that will enable the students of the Department of History to have the highest level of knowledge required in their professional field, respecting their national and spiritual values, universal human rights principles, foreign cultures, and scientific ethics.

Vision

To provide the students of the Department of History with the ability to conduct academic research using methodological methods, to establish connections between events, and to criticize and synthesize. In this context, to ensure that the theoretical knowledge taught is practically used by the students.

 

History: 

Our Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established with the Law No. 5467 published in the Official Gazette dated 17.03.2006 and numbered 26111. The departments of our faculty were established in 2007. The Department of History was established in 2014 and started its education with approximately 120 students in both the first and second education in the 2015-2016 academic year. To date, 257 students have graduated from the first education and 226 from the second education, a total of 483 students have graduated.

 

Job Description and Employment Areas: 

Students who successfully complete the four-year undergraduate education graduate with a bachelor's degree. There are several employment areas for our students. Students who meet the necessary conditions can do academic studies by receiving Master's and Doctorate education. In addition, students who complete the formation education in the Faculties of Education can also serve as History teachers.

Education

In our province, which is located at the intersection of important centers in the ancient times, the Beylikler Period and later the Ottoman Period, our students are educated by academics specialized in their fields.

 

Bachelor's Program: 

Students,

 1- Become proficient in historical terms and concepts.

 2- Gain the ability to evaluate theoretical knowledge in historical studies and research through seminars.

 3- Become knowledgeable about historical and current issues.

 4- Acquire the infrastructure to prepare a scientific thesis study.

 5- Gain the ability to perform historical data analysis.

 6- Acquire the ability to use computer programs necessary for historical studies.

 7- Gain the ability to use and apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field in education-teaching, research and community service areas.

 8- Observes ethical values in the application process of field-related information.

 

Diploma Program: 

After successfully completing all the requirements in the curriculum and graduation requirements, students graduate with a Bachelor's degree in "History".

Conditions for obtaining a bachelor's degree:

1. Taking 140+-10 credit courses,

2. Taking all required courses and being successful in these courses,

3. The weighted grade point average is at least 2.00.

 

Qualifications of Graduates:

The professional profiles of graduates include the following features; being professionally prepared, professional adaptation to different situations, practical or basic professional education that is a prerequisite for ongoing teaching or departmental studies.

• Master's Program:

Students who meet the necessary conditions after undergraduate education can proceed to the 2-year master's program.
