An Orientation Program was Organized for 1st Year Students of the Geography Department

An orientation program was held for the 1st year students who registered for the Geography Department of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Within the scope of the program, students were provided with basic information about the academic structure of the Geography Department, the education process, courses, the working areas of the department, and university life. Various briefings were given to enable students to benefit more effectively from the academic and social opportunities within the department and faculty.

Additionally, information was provided about the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, the Erasmus+ exchange program, internship opportunities, student congresses, voluntary research activities, and the activities carried out by the Geography Society during the orientation program.

Students were informed about the importance of participation in scientific research, project preparation, field studies, and social activities, in addition to their academic development throughout their university education. The multifaceted structure of geography education, which evaluates physical and human processes from a spatial perspective, was emphasized, and the educational and research environment that students will encounter in the department was introduced.

The program ended after answering questions from students and providing information regarding the new academic year.
