Our faculty members Prof. Dr. Erol KAPLUHAN, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Onur YAYLA, and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Uğur TOZKOPARAN contributed as experts and trainers to the “Göller Yöresinin Yakarışı 4” project held between August 24-28, 2026.

In the project conducted under the leadership of Isparta Şehit Polis Mehmet Karacatilki Science and Art Center, issues such as drought experienced in the Göller Region, water loss in lakes, changes occurring in wetland ecosystems, biodiversity, and the effects of climate change on natural life were addressed. A total of 31 theoretical and practical activities were carried out within the scope of the project, which included 24 teachers from different provinces and fields.

Prof. Dr. Erol KAPLUHAN highlighted the importance of sustainable water management by addressing the relationship between water use, agricultural activities, and water resources. Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Onur YAYLA provided evaluations on the current status of Lake Burdur, its ecological problems, and the water loss process occurring in the lake.

Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Uğur TOZKOPARAN, who served as an expert in the project, also addressed the relationship between tourism activities, conservation status, and sustainable use in Lake Salda.

Participants had the opportunity to examine the environmental changes in the Göller Region on-site through training and field studies conducted in various areas, including Lake Burdur, Lake Salda, Lake Eğirdir, Kovada Lake National Park, and Gölcük Lake Nature Park. The project aimed for teachers to transfer the knowledge and experiences they gained on the protection of water resources, climate change, drought, and sustainable environmental use to their students.
