Dr. Faculty Member Özge Can Doğmuş from the Geography Department of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences has published an article titled “Ontological Resilience Beyond Adaptation: Ethical, Relational and Spiritual Practices of a Sufi-Inspired Rural Community in Türkiye” in the journal Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie (Q2), one of the well-established international journals in the geography discipline (with an impact factor of 1.8).
The study, which met the readers on April 21, 2026, addresses the concept of resilience through a Sufi-inspired rural community in Turkey. The article evaluates resilience not merely as a way of adapting to environmental conditions but as a multidimensional life experience shaped by ethical, relational, and spiritual practices.
Based on an eight-month ethnographic field study, the research presents a unique contribution to the literature of human geography, sustainability, and political ecology by revealing how resilience is established in rural communities through responsibility, vulnerability, community life, and human-nature relationships.
We congratulate Dr. Faculty Member Özge Can Doğmuş, who successfully represents our university's scientific production capacity internationally and makes valuable contributions to the field literature, and wish her continued success.
