"Our Geography Department students had the opportunity to apply the contents of the "Field Study" and "Applied Geomorphology" courses, as well as the "Historical Geography" course, in the field as part of the field exercise organized in the spring semester of 2024. The study was conducted under the coordination of Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Onur Yayla, the instructor of the Field Study and Applied Geomorphology courses, and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Uğur Tozkoparan, the instructor of the Historical Geography course.

In this field application, which started from the MAKÜ campus area and covered a route of approximately 17 kilometers; the pumice quarries in Kurna Village, the historical residential settlements and historical mosque in Günalan Village, the ancient settlements of Teke Palace, the canyon structures developed within the pyroclastic units related to Gölcük volcanism, and the land degradations observed along the Serençay Valley were examined on-site.

In the final stage of the exercise, the sedimentation accumulation at the Askeriye Irrigation Dam located in Askeriye Village and the geomorphological processes around the dam were evaluated."
