Üniversitemizin Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi bünyesinde bulunan Coğrafya Bölümü 2012’de açılmıştır. MAKÜ İstiklal yerleşkesi, Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesinde yer alan bölüm, 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında eğitim faaliyetlerine başlamıştır. |

Program Profile | Coğrafya Bilim Dalı’nda uygulanması planlanan program kapsamında, öğrencilere, coğrafyanın tarihsel süreçteki değişimi ve metodolojisinin incelenmesi, dünya ölçeğinde coğrafya bilimi ve eğitimindeki değişimlerin izlenmesi, öğrenme öğretme süreçlerinin ve bilimsel araştırma yöntemlerinin analizi, bilişim ve iletişim teknolojilerini coğrafyada kullanılması, coğrafyada biliminin konularına ilişkin lisans düzeyinde akademik bakış açısı, bilgi, beceri ve birikim kazandırılmasına odaklanılacaktır. Employment Profiles of Graduates | Öğretmenlik formasyonu alan öğrencilerimiz, devlet okullarında ve özel eğitim kurumlarında “Branş Öğretmeni” olma imkânına sahiptir. Coğrafya Bölümü mezunları Milli Eğitim Bakanlığının öngördüğü koşulları yerine getirdiklerinde devlet okullarında, özel okullarda ve özel dershanelerde öğretmen olarak görev yapabilirler. Bölümümüzden mezun olan öğrencilerimiz Maden Tetkik Arama Enstitüsü, Devlet Su İşleri, Köy Hizmetleri, Orman Genel Müdürlüğü, Karayolları, Meteoroloji İşleri Genel Müdürlüğü, Devlet İstatistik Enstitüsü, Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı vb. gibi resmi kuruluşlar ile Turizm Bakanlığı, Çevre Bakanlığı gibi bakanlıklarda çalışabilmektedir. Mezunlarımız, bölge planlama çalışmalarında ve belediyelerin planlama faaliyetlerinde görev yapabilme olanakları bulunmaktadır. |

Program Profile | The Doctorate Program, with a study duration of 4 years, consists of 8 semesters. The program includes an academic process such as compulsory and elective courses, a qualification exam, and a doctoral thesis. The aim of the doctorate programs is to equip students with the most up-to-date information in the relevant program field and to renew existing knowledge. The goal of the program is to train a quality workforce that has developed analysis and problem-solving skills, can think critically and creatively, establish and maintain effective relationships, apply teamwork in the most effective way, take initiative, manage risk and change, and act within the framework of business ethics while doing all these. With this program, students will have the opportunity to understand the factors surrounding businesses in a global perspective and will have taken significant steps in making a difference both personally and professionally. At the end of the program, students gain a solid foundation to take on roles in their fields both throughout Turkey and worldwide. |

Exams, Assessment, and Evaluation | Exams consist of midterm, semester/year-end exams, and make-up exams. To be able to take the semester-end exam, the student must meet the attendance requirement of the courses. All exams are evaluated out of 100 full points, and for each course, a midterm exam (or semester work assignment) and a semester-end exam (final) are conducted. In courses where a midterm and final exam are conducted, the success grade is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exam grade and 60% of the final exam grade. To be successful in a course, the success grade must be at least 75 (CB) out of 100 full points for the doctorate, and at least 2.50 in the 4.00 system. |
Graduation Requirements | The doctorate program consists of at least 8 courses with a total of no less than 28 credits, a qualification exam, thesis proposal, seminar, and thesis work for students starting with a master's degree. For students admitted with a bachelor's degree, it consists of at least 15 courses with 52 credits, a qualification exam, thesis proposal, 2 seminars, and thesis work. To successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00. |
