Our department's faculty member Prof. Dr. Zafer GÖLEN participated as a Speaker in the TRT Antalya Radio Life From Within Program. 23 August 2024.
Zafer Gölen provided information about the Burdur Book 1-4 books he prepared with his students in the program. Gölen said, “these books emerged as a product of the idea that lessons should not be limited to just theoretical explanations. When I shared my thoughts with my students, they all embraced the project with great excitement. I envisioned the work as a series of several books. Therefore, the theme of the first book was “Streets”. The answer to the question of why streets is, as it is known, today there is a phenomenon of an “Ottoman City” all over the world. It is possible to see the Ottoman city everywhere from the Middle East to the Balkans. The Ottoman city was generally shaped around a large mosque built on the highest hill of the city. Around the mosque, there were social areas such as bazaars, tekkes, schools, and madrasas. In the last ring of the city, there were residences with private living spaces connected to the mosque by narrow streets. The streets were mostly social living areas where people of the same lineage lived, and therefore they were places with an entrance but no exit. The street was also a school in a sense. Elders would learn etiquette, respect, and manners by living them. We traced the marks of the Ottoman city in Burdur. In an era where no one trusts anyone, when we saw that the people of Burdur embraced our students, we saw that human values still exist in our city” he said. When the first book reached its goal;
Burdur Book-2-Craftsmen
Burdur Book-3: Tuesday Market and Market Traders
Burdur Book-4: Human and Space books were prepared.
The program ended with Gölen providing information about the contents of the books.
