THE PLEA OF THE LAKES REGION-2

 

TÜBİTAK 4004 | Nature Education and Science Schools Project

 

The project titled ‘The Plea of the Lakes Region-2’ has been prepared for the TÜBİTAK 4004 program, and it is planned to be conducted by Isparta Şehit Polis Mehmet Karacatilki Science and Art Center Social Studies Teacher Zuhal KONDU, with the expertise of ISUBÜ Hunting and Wildlife Dr. Lecturer Ahmet KOCA, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School Travel-Tourism and Entertainment Services Department Lecturer Dr. Uğur TOZKOPARAN, and Isparta Şehit Polis Mehmet Karacatilki Science and Art Center Turkish Teacher İzlem ÇAKMAK. The project is planned to be carried out between August 16-22, 2024, in Isparta and Burdur. The target audience consists of 24 teachers from various branches working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education across Turkey, who have not previously participated in another project supported under the TÜBİTAK 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools. Activities related to the reasons, consequences, and measures to be taken regarding the drought caused by global warming in the Lakes Region will be conducted both theoretically and practically by expert trainers. It is intended to carry out what can be done for the sustainability of water, which is indispensable for our lives, both for today and future generations, with the principle of on-site education in its natural environment. 

 

In the project, which is of great importance for the prevention of the drying up of wetlands and the continuation of the ecosystem's existence there, it is planned to conduct the trainings within the borders of Isparta and Burdur provinces, including Burdur Lake, Salda Lake, Gölcük Lake Nature Park, Yarışlı Lake, Burdur Municipality Solid Waste Facility, İnsuyu Cave, Burdur Lisinia Nature Project Area, Yazılıkanyon Nature Park, Eğirdir Lake, Eğirdir Fisheries Research Institute (SAREM), and Kovada Lake National Park.
