Establishment:Our University's Faculty of Science and Letters was established on 17.03.2006 with the Law No. 5467 published in the Official Gazette No. 26111. In 2007, the departments of our faculty were formed. The History Department was established in 2014 and started its education in the 2015-2016 academic year with approximately 120 students in both first and second education.
Degree Awarded:Graduates who successfully complete all the requirements of the program receive a "Bachelor's Degree in History".

Admission and Registration Requirements:It accepts students based on the score type from the YKS exam. Rules on Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, informal, non-formal):Students studying at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University may be exempt from some courses within certain regulations. If the content of a course taken at another institution is compatible with the course content at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and is approved by the relevant faculty/institute directorate, the student may be exempt from that course.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations:1 Has advanced theoretical and practical knowledge supported by course materials containing up-to-date information, applied tools and equipment, research methods and techniques applied in field studies, and other resources based on the qualifications gained in the field.
2 Uses advanced theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field.
3 Uses, solves, and applies the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field in education, research, and community service areas.
4 Works independently or takes responsibility as a team member to solve complex problems encountered and unforeseen in the field.
5 Plans activities for the development of employees under their responsibility in the relevant field.
6 Plans personal and institutional development using the knowledge and skills acquired in the field.
7 Critically evaluates the knowledge and skills acquired in the field.
8 Determines the learning needs of those under their responsibility and manages the learning processes.
9 Develops a positive attitude towards lifelong learning.
10 Informs relevant persons and institutions about issues in the field and conveys their thoughts, presents solutions to problems theoretically and practically.
11 Supports solutions to problems in the field with quantitative and qualitative data and shares these data with experts and non-experts in the field using various communication tools.
12 Participates in various social, cultural, and artistic activities in the field.
13 Follows theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of humanities using a foreign language and shares this knowledge with experts and non-experts in the field (European Language Portfolio B1 General Level).
14 Uses computer software required by the field along with information and communication technologies at an advanced level.
15 Collects, analyzes, interprets, and shares information related to the field with relevant persons, institutions, and organizations.
16 Observes ethical values in the process of applying knowledge related to the field.
17 Supports the universality of social and cultural rights in the field, gains awareness of social justice, and protects historical and cultural heritage.
18 Conducts interdisciplinary research and examination in the field.
19 Acts and participates in accordance with quality management and processes.
Program Profile:Our program consists of expert academicians in the field, and necessary studies are carried out along with courses. The aim is to train students as individuals with field skills. The working areas of our department are Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History, Contemporary History, and the Republic of Turkey. Accordingly, the academic profile of the department is also kept broad. The aim is to ensure that students succeed in the professional exams they will encounter later and to enable them to work in desired positions in both the public and private sectors, primarily as teachers. At the same time, it aims to train our students as talented and equipped historians at national and international levels.
Employment Profiles of Graduates (with examples):Graduates of the History Department can become civil servants as researchers in specific fields (library, archive, museum, etc.) and can also become teachers if they complete their pedagogical formation.
Access to Further Studies:They can apply to master's, doctorate programs, or proficiency in art programs in all fields, primarily in the social and human sciences. Graduation Requirements:

Students who have completed the required credits for graduation, have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00, and whose graduation is decided by the relevant unit's administrative board are awarded a diploma as stipulated in the Higher Education Law No. 2547. The diploma date is the date of the unit's administrative board decision. The CGPA is also the graduation grade point average. Diplomas are issued within the framework of the principles determined by the Senate.

A student continuing undergraduate education; if they have successfully completed all courses of at least the first four semesters of a bachelor's program, have a CGPA of at least 2.00, and leave the University voluntarily, they are awarded an associate degree diploma in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 2547.

Until the diplomas are prepared, a temporary graduation certificate is issued to the student once. The graduation date is the date of the decision of the unit's administrative board meeting regarding the student's graduation.

A diploma is issued to the graduate student once. In case of loss, damage, or changes in identity information based on a court decision, procedures are carried out according to the principles determined by the Senate.

A learning certificate showing the graduation degree, cumulative grade point average, the department or program they attended, and the courses, projects, laboratories, and graduation projects they took, along with their grades, is given to the graduate student.

A student who successfully completes all courses and does not receive any disciplinary punishment; if their graduation grade is between 3.00-3.49, they are awarded an honor certificate, and if it is between 3.50-4.00, they are awarded a high honor certificate.
