GENERAL INFORMATION
The field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is quite broad and expanding. Nowadays, besides its use in areas such as physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, materials science, and electronics, it has also started to enable quite striking developments in the field of medicine. It is a developing technology, and it is evident that it will spread to many more areas in the future.
Many microscopic devices that can be produced with this technology may perhaps circulate in our veins and provide treatment like an expert. By understanding the physical properties of structures at the nano scale, a bridge can be established with a new nanoscopic world.
With the production of nanomaterials, much more durable transportation vehicles and non-polluting, non-rusting items; even self-cleaning clothes can be produced.
Due to the pollution of existing water resources, it is predicted that there will be a major problem in accessing fresh water in the future, but this pollution can be prevented thanks to nanotechnology. Perhaps in the near future, biological and pharmacological computers that can work in the human body can be produced in this way. We can say that nanotechnology is the key technology of our age.
Nanotechnology, with many of its applications, already shows that humanity should be prepared for radical changes in the future. Let's imagine systems where everyone produces their own computer and gives commands. With many innovations open to the imagination and knowledge world of scientists, perhaps nothing in nature will remain that cannot be imitated. Considering that the nano worlds of materials are different from their macro worlds, the possibility of many chemical reactions emerging will also arise.
Examples of Nanotechnology Applications
a- Lens camera production with nanotechnology
b- Nanotechnological battery
c- Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
d- 500,000 GB MP3 Player
e- Thousands of movies on a single DVD
f- Compression stockings with nanotechnology
g- Thermoelectric generating coatings
h- Miniaturized writings
Thanks to nanotechnology, new products will be developed in industry, information technologies, the health sector, and many other fields, and today's production processes and methods will change. Economic values will be created in countries that invest in this technology, and the quality of life of societies will improve.
• Mission-Vision:
To train students with a scientific perspective, research and development-oriented, capable of competing in national and international arenas, and experts in their field, is the goal of the Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology; aims to train innovative students who have adopted the principles of nanotechnology, think scientifically, perceive the environment as a whole, can make logical synthesis at a good level, have analytical thinking, and can adapt to all kinds of working conditions. Within the framework of universal science, universal thought, and development, it is our primary goal to equip students who can be the academics of the future with the quality of being a knowledge-disseminating scientist, aiming to take part in national and international projects. Today, the competition among world nations is through the education of youth and scientific work in universities. Therefore, our primary duty is to train our students as innovative individuals who recognize contemporary technologies, can use these technologies in developing new methods, can work in a versatile manner, are competitive, love their country and people, and can communicate with others.
• History:
Our department started accepting its first students in the 2016-2017 academic year and will give its first graduates between 2019-2020.
• Job Description and Employment Areas:
Following the undergraduate education in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, graduate students
• Hold a bachelor's degree,
• Become teaching staff at universities,
• Become researchers in various state institutions.
Developing technologies and the competitive environment worldwide increase the need for personnel equipped with qualified knowledge. Therefore, the need for graduates with the technological knowledge to compete with the USA and EU countries, who seek solutions to the problems of the country and society, and who can rapidly integrate into the information society, will continue to increase.
