General Information
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in 2008. In the 2017-2018 academic year, it started accepting undergraduate students. Our department has one professor, one associate professor, three assistant professors, and one research assistant.
The aim of our department is to train experts with sufficient knowledge in the field of Turkish language and literature. It is aimed that students who complete our undergraduate program will correctly evaluate texts belonging to Turkish language and literature from the beginning to the present in terms of both language and literature. Additionally, it is planned to provide various opportunities for students to develop themselves through events such as panels, conferences, and symposiums.
History
Our department was established in 2008 and started accepting undergraduate students in the 2017-2018 academic year. Education will be provided in the main branches of Old Turkish Language, New Turkish Language, Old Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature, and Turkish Folk Literature.
Job Description and Employment Areas
Graduates of our department are entitled to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Turkish Language and Literature from Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and these diploma holders will have completed four years of higher education. Additionally, according to the European Union harmonization legislation, they receive the title of "Bachelor of Turkish Language and Literature."
Those who complete our undergraduate program can find employment opportunities in archives, various ministries related to the field, state institutions, publishing houses, and other private organizations, as well as becoming teachers by receiving pedagogical formation.
Purpose
The purpose of the Turkish Language and Literature department is to train experts who can examine the works of Turkish language and literature from the beginning to the present with the data provided by science in terms of language and literature.
Principle
The principle of the Turkish Language and Literature department is to ensure that students of the Turkish Language and Literature Department acquire sufficient academic and professional knowledge in this field and to train scientists who will contribute to Turkology.
